lehua tree

This week we explored Kalihi Valley with our community partners at Hoʻoulu ʻĀina. They helped us to learn more about the relationship between cultural practitioners and their ʻāina.

We were able to see some of the native plants and animals of uka that we have been learning about in class included the ʻōhiʻa lehua and koa! (see photo above)

We also learned about the importance of ʻōlena while harvesting and cleaning.
